We kindly request any customer on Windows 2016 to upgrade to Windows 2019 by 31st January 2025.
When planning an upgrade Host environment variables, Database “config” parameters and some “support only” settings must be reviewed in line with the latest defaults, environment and other information detailed for each new release.
Refer to the latest Documentation under Environment variables and “config” file.
Along with the above, all Database and User options and settings should be checked against the latest Release Information
Examples:
Config File:
VendorEmulation, check for updated MultiValue options within each new release.
ShareModulo/
ShareSize, check sizing is suitable for your application.
Environment Variables:
MVSTYLEITEMLOCKS/
ROSSTYLEITEMLOCKS These change the way Item Locks are released.
RFSSETFREE This should only be set if directed by support staff as it can reduce database performance under normal use.
Support Settings:
There are several “support” settings and logging levels that should be used, typically temporally, only as advised by support staff. Any non-standard setting and undocumented Environment or “config” options that are still being used should be referred back to NPS before a new release upgrade.
