* Important: In addition to the above Service Packs refer to the below:

  1. May 20, 2021 – On Solaris 11.4, fixes 376 and above may fail to install. A new version of pdshist is required to install these later fixes. Download the file pdshistm and save it as /usr/bin/pdshist and /usr/local/bin/pdshist (replacing the existing files). The fixes can now be installed in the normal manner.
  2. Mar 31, 2017 – If Windows Systems do not have fix/update #120 installed, released on SP#136 in May 2015, you need to install the Service Packs above twice and then run DBUPDATE in each database.

V15.5, V15.4 and V15.3 use the same version key as for V15.1 – i.e. 80001510-000
For existing systems you only need to load the latest SP above.
For new system installs the following V15.1 ISO must be used, followed by the latest SP above.

Reality .NET Language Server – RealDNLS – EXPERIMENTAL
Description: September 20, 2016 (V15.2 and above)
Provide DataBasic programs with access to 32 bit and 64 bit .NET collection of class assemblies (DLLs) to create and access objects, their data and methods using an object orientated syntax.

To install download and run one of the above packages.
To uninstall go to ‘Uninstall Programs’ in the ‘Control Panel’.

Notes:

  1. To Install Reality Web Services on recent versions of Apache or Jetty, just copy the NorthgateWebServices folder into the webapps folder under either Tomcat or Jetty etc.
  2. Without commercial license keys this will run in a “data restricted” evaluation mode and data transfer is delayed. The commercial license is based on the amount of data transferred in a rolling twenty-four hour period.
  3. Outgoing Web Services are part of release V15.0 delivery and above.

Provides SQL/ODBC access for 32 bit or 64 bit applications on Windows or UNIX platforms. For full installation details refer to the Documentation, home page Installation Guides link, then External Components. Further driver and general information is under SQL for Reality in the Documentation Contents section.

These components provide both 32 and 64 bit ODBC drivers for use by 32 and 64 bit applications respectively, with installation supported on both 32 bit and 64 bit platforms.

Important Note: ODBC driver 2.5.2.5 cannot be installed on platforms with UnixConnect 2.0 and above which are 64 bit, refer to 64 Bit UNIX Drivers above.

ODBC driver 2.5.2.5 is fully compatible with Reality V15.x provided it is installed on a platform using UnixConnect 1.5.


Driver Managers


While we cannot recommend specific Driver Managers NIS/Reality have tested using ‘Open’ Libraries and Driver Manager from the unixODBC Project, version 2.3.1.

RealLink is a terminal emulator which supports Prism and other emulations. It requires WinSNI and will need a licence key.

To upgrade to the most recent version of RealLink download and execute RealLink V4.0.4.15 and follow the prompts.

These are packages that can be installed on a Reality database to provide additional capabilities.

The REALLINK feature provides a set of utilities for transferring files from the host system to the Windows system where the RealLink terminal emulator is running. Download the tar and txt files and follow the instructions in the txt file to install.

The ISIS.TE feature provides support for the ISIS terminal executive which runs within RealLink and provides additional terminal facilities.  Download the tar and txt files and follow the instructions in the txt file to install.

RealEdit – Version 2.0.15  (Windows only) – May 5, 2020
RealEdit 2 is a Windows GUI Reality program and data screen editor with optional debugging functionality.

Before installing, previous versions must be uninstalled using the Add/Remove Programs or Programs and Features functions from the Windows Control Panel.

To install RealEdit version 2, unzip the downloaded file from the above link and run RealEd2Setup.msi

This is a major new version that requires Service Pack #390 to have been installed on the Reality server.

The GUI debugging feature, requires an active licence key 70002634 to be present on the Reality server.

RealEdit – Version 1.3.2.0    Installation Info File    Windows only
Unzip the download from the above link and refer to the Info File.

This is a new version for V15.1, refer to the Installation Info File link above for a list of new features.

Remote Tape Installer For Window
Unzip the download from the above link and run the Setup.exe file.

Description: September 22, 2015 Windows only
This is a new InstallShield installation to resolve the issue running on 64 bit Reality Systems and also installs to windows_drive:\Realman\bin to match other non-Reality related installs.

The Remote Tape Server can be loaded onto any compatible Reality Host Platform. Reality does not need to be loaded in order for a System running Reality to be able to access tape units attached to remote Systems with the Remote Tape Server running. For further details refer to the Documentation under Installation Guides, External Components, Remote Tape Server.

Important Notes:
You need to remove the current version before loading newer.

The following assumes the required level of knowledge, either from support personnel or from VAR and customers support teams, if in any doubt contact your local support. For detailed information refer to UNIX-Connect in the Documentation Contents. Downloads named New Version are a complete new installation, for -Fix downloads these are update fixes applied to existing loaded versions, also refer to the specific Installation Info File below. To determine the current version of UNIX-Connect use cat /usr/RCS/Name.


You need to remove the current version before loading newer.
You should update to Version 2.2 unless advised by support personnel to use a Previous Version as listed below. You must rebuild Reality after installing version 2.2. Also refer to the ODBC Driver component for Version compatibility with UNIX-Connect.
